How many people does an Airstream International sleep?
The number of people your International can sleep depends on which floor plan you pick. The 23FB sleeps up to 4 people, while the 25FB, 27FB, 28RB, and 30RB each sleep up to 6 people.
Every International floor plan includes:
- Either a queen bed (60 inches by 75 inches) or twin beds (34 inches by 80 inches each)
- A dinette that converts into a sleeping area
If you choose the 25FB or 27FB, you can add an optional front bunk that measures 31 inches by 86 inches. This bunk holds up to 150 pounds and doubles as storage space when you're not using it for sleeping. All beds feature pillow-top memory foam mattresses with quilted bedspreads, decorative throw pillows, and sleeping pillows included.
What kind of vehicle do I need to tow an Airstream International?
Your tow vehicle needs will vary based on which International floor plan you select. Here's a breakdown of the weight specs for each model:
International 23FB
- Base Weight: 5,100 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 500 pounds
- GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating): 6,000 pounds
International 25FB
- Base Weight: 5,700 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 860 pounds
- GVWR: 7,300 pounds
International 27FB
- Base Weight: 6,000 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 850 pounds
- GVWR: 7,600 pounds
International 28RB
- Base Weight: 5,900 pounds (with LP and batteries)

- GVWR: 7,600 pounds
International 30RB
- Base Weight: 6,600 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 900 pounds
- GVWR: 8,800 pounds
Your tow vehicle should have a towing capacity that exceeds the GVWR of your chosen model. For the 23FB, you'll want a vehicle rated for at least 6,500 pounds, while the 30RB requires at least 9,500 pounds of towing capacity.
Most mid-size and full-size trucks, SUVs, and some larger crossovers can handle towing an International. You'll also need a weight distribution hitch system for safe towing. Always check your vehicle's owner's manual for its specific towing capacity and requirements. The team at Airstream of Tampa in Dover is happy to help you match your vehicle to the right trailer.

What is the learning curve for owning an Airstream International?
Great news for first-time RV owners: the learning curve for an Airstream International is manageable. While there's definitely information to absorb, most new owners feel comfortable operating their trailer within just a few camping trips.
When you purchase your International from Airstream of Tampa, we'll provide a complete delivery walkthrough covering all systems and features. We recommend starting with a trip to a campground within a few hours of home. This approach lets you learn your trailer in a comfortable environment without the pressure of being far from home.
Important things to learn include:
- How to set up and level your trailer
- Connecting utilities including electric, water, and sewer
- Understanding your power system and monitoring battery levels
- Operating the Smart Control Technology app
- Basic care tasks like checking seals and tire pressure
- Preparing your trailer for different seasons
The International comes with features designed to make RV ownership easier, including powered stabilizer jacks, a powered awning, and Airstream Smart Control Technology that allows you to monitor and control systems from your smartphone. These modern conveniences reduce the learning curve compared to older RV models.
Airstream provides excellent online resources through Airstream Academy, featuring videos, articles, and answers to common questions. Additionally, every new Airstream includes three years of Coach-Net 24/7 roadside help, so assistance is always available when you need it.

Does owning an Airstream International make sense living in Florida?
Absolutely! Florida is an ideal state for Airstream ownership, and the International is perfectly suited for year-round camping in the Sunshine State.
Year-Round Camping Season: Florida's warm climate means you can use your International throughout the entire year. With an average annual temperature of 72 degrees and 246 days of sunshine, you'll get far more use from your investment than owners in many other states. Most campgrounds operate year-round, and the mild winters mean you never have to winterize or store your trailer for months at a time.
Outdoor Activities: The Tampa Bay region offers incredible variety for RV adventures. From Gulf Coast beaches to freshwater springs, state parks to waterfront campgrounds, you have countless destinations within easy reach. The Little Manatee River, Hillsborough River State Park, and numerous beachside RV resorts provide diverse camping experiences. The International's range of sizes makes it easy to navigate everything from beach campgrounds to wooded state parks.
Equipment Features: The International comes with optional solar panels and lithium batteries, perfect for exploring Florida's many state parks and natural areas. The 15,000 BTU air conditioning system is essential for Florida's warm summers, keeping you comfortable even on hot days. The 30,000 BTU furnace handles cooler winter evenings, while the enclosed, insulated, heated underbelly protects your systems year-round.
Local Convenience: With Airstream of Tampa located right in Dover, you have easy access to expert service and support whenever you need it. This makes maintenance, repairs, and upgrades convenient throughout your ownership. Having a local dealership familiar with your trailer is invaluable.
Storage Considerations: Florida's mild climate is perfect for RV storage. You can keep your International at home without worrying about harsh winter weather damaging your trailer. Many Florida Airstream owners store their trailers outside year-round, though covered or indoor storage is also available if you prefer extra protection from the sun and occasional storms.
Florida Adventures: The International is your ticket to exploring Florida's unique attractions. Visit the springs for crystal-clear snorkeling, camp near theme parks for family vacations, explore the Gulf Islands, or spend weekends at beachside campgrounds. With Tampa Bay as your home base, you're within a few hours of nearly any destination in the state.
The International's quality construction, including its riveted aluminum shell and excellent insulation, handles Florida's climate beautifully.
